Mask holes and threads
Silicone Tapered Plugs
Tapered geometry gives buyers a practical way to cover a hole range while they validate the fit on their own parts.
Selection starts with the part and process.
Measure the smallest and largest usable hole diameter plus depth. Include whether the hole is blind, through or threaded before selecting a sample range.
Use this product family when
Blind holes, through holes or threaded holes where a tapered fit can cover a practical diameter range.
Powder coating programs where sample validation can confirm fit before bulk ordering.
Replacement sourcing where the buyer can measure the current hole and test adjacent sizes.
Do not use it as the first choice when
The operator needs a visible pull tab for fast removal from a through hole.
The surrounding face must also remain bare and needs flange coverage.
The hole tolerance is critical and requires a custom molded geometry review.
Measurement checklist
Send these inputs with the RFQ so the first response can focus on a testable size or custom review path.
| Small diameter | Minimum working end diameter to compare with the hole |
|---|---|
| Large diameter | Maximum working diameter before the plug becomes too tight |
| Usable length | Length available inside the hole or thread |
| Thread detail | Thread size, blind or through, and insertion depth |
Material and temperature statement
Material
Silicone material family for high-temperature masking applications, subject to grade confirmation.
Temperature and process fit
The oven or process temperature, dwell time and number of reuse cycles are required before final material confirmation.
Sample validation checklist
- 01
Test at least one adjacent size around the measured hole.
- 02
Check whether the plug stays in place during handling and bake.
- 03
Inspect threads after removal for powder entry.
- 04
Record which side of the taper produced the best fit.

Frequently asked questions
Are tapered plugs suitable for threaded holes?
They can be a practical starting point, but the thread form, depth and coating process should be checked with a fit sample.
Can one plug cover several hole sizes?
A tapered plug can cover a useful diameter range. The final choice still needs to be verified on the actual part and process.
Need to confirm fit first?
Request a sample range around your measured size.
Samples can be scoped around actual process, dimensions and testing goals before a bulk order.
