Protect external features
Silicone Masking Caps
Mask exposed threads, studs, pins and tube ends using caps chosen from the actual outside diameter and coverage depth.
Selection starts with the part and process.
Provide the outside diameter, required coverage depth, process and quantity. A clear photo of the stud or tube end speeds up the selection.
Use this product family when
Studs, pins, threaded rods, tube ends and external features that need a clean covered area.
Powder coating or plating programs where the outside diameter and coverage depth are known.
Distributor kits where common cap sizes need clear labels and mixed-size packaging.
Do not use it as the first choice when
The feature is an internal bore or threaded hole rather than an external feature.
The cap would interfere with neighboring geometry or hanging fixtures.
The no-coat area requires a flat tape edge rather than full coverage around a feature.
Measurement checklist
Send these inputs with the RFQ so the first response can focus on a testable size or custom review path.
| Outside diameter | Measured stud, pin or tube-end OD |
|---|---|
| Coverage depth | Length that must remain clean |
| Clearance | Nearby geometry, rack contact or handling constraint |
| Surface condition | Threaded, smooth, sharp edge or tube end |
Material and temperature statement
Material
Silicone material family; grade, color and hardness are confirmed after application review.
Temperature and process fit
State the full bake cycle or processing exposure for material confirmation before a bulk order.
Sample validation checklist
- 01
Check grip before the part reaches the finishing line.
- 02
Confirm no cap movement during handling and process exposure.
- 03
Inspect the protected threads or tube end after removal.
- 04
Confirm removal speed and any cap marks on the finished part.

Frequently asked questions
How tight should a silicone cap fit?
The cap should grip the feature securely without damage. Confirm fit on a sample before production use.
Can caps be reused?
Reuse depends on the process, removal method and wear. Test the intended cycle before setting a reuse expectation.
Need to confirm fit first?
Request a sample range around your measured size.
Samples can be scoped around actual process, dimensions and testing goals before a bulk order.
